DocLib
Terms & Conditions
1. Agreement
By downloading, installing, or using DocLib ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and the developer of DocLib.
2. Age Requirement
DocLib is intended for users aged 16 and older. By using the app, you represent and warrant that you are at least 16 years of age. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you must have the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms on your behalf.
3. Eligibility and Lawful Use
You are solely responsible for ensuring your use of DocLib complies with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws and regulations. You must not use DocLib for any unlawful, abusive, infringing, exploitative, defamatory, obscene, or harmful activity. This includes, but is not limited to, the unauthorized downloading, storage, distribution, or transmission of copyrighted, trademarked, or otherwise protected content. You must not use DocLib to store or distribute content that exploits, harms, or endangers any person.
4. Your Content and Responsibility
You retain ownership of all content you import, create, store, or manage within DocLib. You are solely responsible for all content you import, store, organize, export, share, browse, download, transfer, or delete using the app, and for any consequences, legal or otherwise, arising from those actions. DocLib does not monitor, review, verify, moderate, endorse, or assume any responsibility for user content.
5. Local Storage, Security, and Backups
DocLib stores your data locally on your device by default. Unless you create and maintain your own encrypted backups, your data may be permanently and irreversibly lost due to device loss, theft, damage, factory reset, app removal, iOS updates, storage failure, or credential loss. You are solely responsible for maintaining adequate backups of your data. DocLib strongly recommends creating regular encrypted backups and storing your backup passphrase in a safe location separate from your device. Text and document rendering and search indexing, including supported code and document formats and optional OCR, are performed locally on your device.
6. Security Features and Data Destruction
DocLib offers security features including passcode protection, biometric authentication, auto-lock, erase-after-failed-attempts, and cross-library wipe. If you enable erase-after-failed-attempts, all data in the affected vault library will be permanently and irreversibly destroyed after the configured number of consecutive failed passcode attempts. If you enable cross-library wipe, data in additional libraries may also be permanently destroyed. You acknowledge that enabling these features is entirely voluntary, that you understand their consequences, and that DocLib and its developer bear no responsibility for data destroyed as a result of security features you have configured. These security features are designed to protect your privacy and cannot be reversed or overridden.
7. No Recovery Obligation
DocLib does not store, transmit, escrow, or have access to your passcodes, backup passphrases, or encryption keys at any time. If you forget or lose your passcode or backup passphrase, your data may become permanently inaccessible. DocLib and its developer have no ability, means, or obligation to recover, reset, or bypass any data protected by user-set credentials. You accept full responsibility for remembering and securely storing your passcodes and passphrases.
8. Privacy
DocLib does not require an account for core vault features. Data handling practices are described in the DocLib Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Any optional analytics are subject to your explicit consent and can be disabled at any time. Purchases are processed by Apple in accordance with Apple's privacy practices. DocLib does not transmit your vault files, indexed document text, or OCR text to the developer as part of normal core-vault operation.
9. Purchases and Subscriptions
In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed exclusively by Apple and are governed by Apple's terms and billing policies. DocLib Pro subscription unlocks additional features. If your subscription expires, is cancelled, or is not renewed, access to Pro-only features is restricted. Existing vault items remain on your device and are not automatically deleted solely due to subscription status changes. Free-plan limits, including item-count caps, may prevent adding new items while above the limit until you delete items or restore Pro access; this can also apply after restoring a backup that exceeds the free-plan cap. Refund requests must be directed to Apple. DocLib does not process payments or have access to your payment information.
10. Third-Party Content and Services
DocLib may allow you to access third-party websites through the Private Browser, download content from external links, receive files via Wi-Fi Transfer from other devices, or import content from other apps via the Share Extension. Private Browser is intended to keep web navigation in-app and blocks non-web scheme handoff to external apps. DocLib does not control, operate, host, endorse, verify, or assume any responsibility for third-party content, websites, services, or any material accessed through them. Your interactions with third-party services are governed by their respective terms, conditions, and privacy policies. DocLib is not liable for any damages, losses, or harm resulting from your use of or reliance on third-party content or services.
11. Intellectual Property
DocLib and all of its code, design, user interface, graphics, icons, animations, documentation, and features are the intellectual property of the developer and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms. You may not copy, modify, adapt, translate, distribute, sell, sublicense, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or create derivative works of the app or any part of it, except as expressly permitted by applicable law that cannot be contractually waived.
12. Updates and Availability
DocLib may be updated from time to time. Features may be added, modified, improved, limited, or removed at the developer's discretion to maintain security, reliability, performance, compatibility, and legal compliance. DocLib does not guarantee uninterrupted availability or compatibility with all devices, operating system versions, or configurations. The developer reserves the right to discontinue the app or any feature at any time without prior notice.
13. Warranty Disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, DocLib is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. The developer does not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components. While DocLib employs industry-standard security measures including encryption, passcode protection, and data-at-rest protection, no software can guarantee absolute security against all threats. DocLib does not warrant that its security features are impervious to unauthorized access, sophisticated attacks, or circumvention. You are responsible for safeguarding your device, credentials, and data.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, DocLib and its developer, officers, employees, agents, affiliates, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including but not limited to damages for loss of data, loss of profits, loss of revenue, loss of goodwill, loss of privacy, service interruption, device damage, or failure to store or transmit any data, whether based on warranty, contract, tort including negligence, strict liability, or any other legal theory, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. In no event shall the total aggregate liability of DocLib and its developer exceed the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months preceding the claim, or fifty US dollars, whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless DocLib and its developer, officers, employees, agents, affiliates, and licensors from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, damages, losses, liabilities, judgments, settlements, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees and legal costs, arising out of or related to your use or misuse of the app, your content, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right, or any dispute between you and a third party relating to the app or your content.
16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of DocLib shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts. You agree to waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against DocLib or its developer. If any dispute arises, you agree to first attempt to resolve it informally by contacting the developer before initiating formal proceedings.
17. Termination
The developer reserves the right to restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to the app or certain features if there is a reasonable belief that you have violated these Terms or are using the app in a manner that is harmful, fraudulent, or contrary to its intended purpose. Where permitted by law, the developer may also discontinue features or availability at any time, and has no ongoing obligation to provide support, maintenance, or continued access to any particular feature.
18. Force Majeure
DocLib and its developer shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance due to causes beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, pandemics, war, terrorism, government actions or restrictions, infrastructure failures, power outages, internet disruptions, Apple platform changes, or any other events beyond reasonable control.
19. Statutory Rights and Severability
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit rights that cannot be waived or limited under applicable law, including consumer protection rights in your jurisdiction. If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable while preserving its original intent.
20. Entire Agreement and Changes
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and the developer regarding your use of DocLib and supersede any prior agreements. The developer reserves the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the app. Your continued use of DocLib after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you must stop using DocLib.
